As David Rowland (pioneer and trailblazer in the Nutritional world) says,“Nutritional Symptomatology is an approximate yet reliable method of measurement. When it comes to health, it is far better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.”
Nourish for Life Questionnaire
A very in-depth assessment is provided through an extensive questionnaire which allows me to look at the likelihood of issues that may be prevalent to your situation. This analysis puts the results into priority sequence, letting me know which items require immediate attention and which are items to keep an eye on. For each category where there is a specific imbalance, the report makes recommendations for improvement with diet, lifestyle and/or supplementation.
The Nourish for Life Questionnaire is able to show each one of us our own unique nutritional fingerprint.
With many of the special diets we are being presented, there is a “one size fits all philosophy. “ While this may be appropriate for some— and there are success stories—there are also many failures and in fact, some people may even be sicker as a result of limiting themselves to certain specific choices. The best approach for any individual is not in popular theory. Your body has all the answers. Long before we are diagnosed with disease, we are often given a clean bill of health, and yet we know intuitively that something is not quite right. We wonder why we are always gassy, why our fingernails are lifting, why they have white spots, etc. Symptomatology interprets these bodily signs and allows us to find the root causes.
The questionnaire involves YOU in their own healing processes and empowers you to take responsibility. It teaches you to listen to their bodies and to make the connections between symptoms and deficiencies, and to find the solutions.
It provides useful information all by itself, or it can be used in conjunction with other methods of analysis. It can be re-done at regular intervals (every eight weeks recommended) to measure progress and change and re-prioritize. Find the source of the problem and treat the source, not the symptom. Many practitioners with good intentions have a tendency to recommend a lot of supplementation without addressing the underlying causes. For example, glucosamine is often recommended for arthritic-type problems. When the individual stops taking the glucosamine the symptom returns. There are other underlying issues related to the joints that aren’t being addressed with this approach. This is no more useful than the allopathic approach of prescribing pills that band aid the problems. Excesses of the wrong nutrients can create more imbalances in the end. Underlying causes generally are: diet, emotions, radiation, chemicals, pH imbalance and parasitic/bacterial foci of infection.
Without proper diet, medicine is of no use. With proper diet, there is no use for medicine. – Ayur Veda
I know what you're thinking. I'm going to go in for my assessment and "she's going to tell me to take a gazillion pills that will cost a fortune." Well you may be half right, but hear me out first. I have very strong opinions and rationale for when it comes to supplementation.
1. Are you already eating an optimal, whole foods, organic diet? Truthfully, if you were, you wouldn't have to come see me. 2. Do you know where your food gets its nutrients? Mostly from the earth, unless its chemically added from man-made sources. The earth, unfortunately is sadly lacking in the nutrients it once was. When plants are repeatedly grown on the same land, the soil loses vitamins, minerals, and microbes faster than they can be replaced. Over time, the plants have fewer nutrients to grow. Fertilizer contains just enough nutrition for the plant to survive until harvesting, but not enough to support human health. 3. Our water supply is depleted of the wonderful minerals it once had. Most water filters remove important minerals such as magnesium, which is essential for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. Up until recently, clean, unfiltered fresh water was the main source of magnesium for humans. Not anymore. Our water is filtered of essential minerals like magnesium, contaminated with chlorine, and fortified with potentially harmful chemicals like fluoride. 4. Your body needs nutrients to deal with toxins. When more toxins are present, you need more nutrients. If you’re living in a cave or the garden of Eden, this will be less of a concern. If you’re like the rest of us mortals – you’re exposed to a litany of toxins on a daily basis. 5. As you age, hydrochloric acid and digestive enzyme production naturally declines, making it difficult for you to break down and absorb nutrients from your foods. 6. If you’re doing enough exercise to substantially deplete energy reserves, you’re also using more nutrients for energy production and recovery. All that being said, it is ultimately up to you. I do not sell products to you, I only suggest and make recommendations based on your assessments. IF you were to take in a clean, organic, whole foods diet, starting the second you left my office I'd say 'great, my job is done. I don't have to worry about that person ever again.'. But life happens and so does pizza! I offer a discounted price on supplements through an online dispensary OR you can buy your own from your favourite health food store. What I do ask from you is to buy the best product your money can afford. After all, its your health and its important to have the very best.
